Great Watch -you will love it March 10, 2010 William Wiehn (Sunny Florida, USA) This watch model # W71 is hard to find in stores, but Amason sure enough had it and for a fabulous price. Theis watch has all the features you will ever need and it holds up to all kinds of abuse. Put it on and forget about it , go swimming, diving or what ever. It's just a great watch. The battery life is about 5 years. Plus it automatically changes to the proper date if forsay Feb has 28 days, it knows that !! One smart watch. I love it.
Great watch! February 26, 2010 A. Eberts (Boise, ID United States) Although it has been a while since I had a wrist watch, I'm so glad I bought this as my first after years of not having one. I wasn't into getting anything fancy and expensive like solar powered that re-adjusts the time from a satellite some where. I just wanted something simple with a few options on it like an alarm, stopwatch, dual time, it also has a nice timer on it too. I love the fact that it has the day, the day of the week, and the month all on the face. Besides, I remember having these same style watches or something like it when I was 13 & younger. They were called smart watches back then...I thought they were so cool, and was obsessed with all the little functions that had. At the time, they were at least 60 or 70 dollars. Years later, they are only $15 bucks (plus shipping which really puts it to about $22). I noticed the newer modeled watches are rounder in shape and are really huge. I didn't want such a bulky watch, so I went with this model. The round shape to the new modeled watches looks ugly to me too, I don't know why. A few reviewers said this watch looks cheap, which I don't agree with. It doesn't look like you bought it out of a vending machine, but it also doesn't look like you bought it for 200 bucks either. More over I think that the watches with plastic buttons truly look cheap, so that's why I buy ones with metal buttons. Plus if I remember right, plastic buttons break a little easier. I have a physical job, and it holds up great against being bumped up against metal things sometimes. I get a lot of water on it too from hand washing which hasn't phased it. I'm so glad they still make these classic watches, and will continue to buy them for years to come if hopefully casio decides to keep them around.
Casio Men's Classic Digital Watch February 15, 2010 Whistleberry (NorCal) Simple, inexpensive watch with alarm and stopwatch capabilities. My previous one lasted over 22 years. The battery lasts about 7 years. Hey, way better than carrying a sundial.
Good value January 22, 2010 nb9001 (Vallejo, CA United States) I got this as a backup for my G-shock DW9052, which reviews say might suddenly die at any time. On a cost basis alone I can't fault this watch for anything. All the functions I need are there: 12/24 hour time, stopwatch, alarm, backlight, calendar, and sufficient water resistance. The battery will last 2 or 3 times longer than same in my G-shock and in some ways this is a more practical watch. My issues with it are a matter of personal preference. First, I'm now used to the big manly DW9052 and this watch is neither. Admittedly the DW9052 is large and watches have gotten bigger over the years, but the band on the W71 tapers to a half inch which seems unnecessarily small. There are some advantages to the small size, e.g. it is light and will easily fit under a shirt sleeve. Second, it is unchanged since the mid 80s when it came out and the flat square appearance looks dated and cheap. If you're a bastion of common sense who can walk proudly into a conference room wearing a tiny cheap watch, then congratulations on your self-confidence and that should be no concern. Any watch that costs more than 40 bucks is just a fashion statement, right? Finally, it gains about 15 seconds per month. That doesn't seem like much, but it's a lot compared to the DW9052.
Husband loves them. December 23, 2009 Eillib/R's Grandma Husband says they are comfortable, thin, lightweight, and cheap and he really likes them. He hasn't found a casual watch that he likes as well as this one. The downside, the band wears through in about 2 years and is impossible to replace. Tired of having to hunt for this style for him so purchased two this time (#3 and #4 of this style).
