Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The simply designed Casio G-Shock Classic analog-digital watch for men offers shock resistance that's great for your most vigorous sporting activities as well as anti-magnetic properties. The durable round black watch case measures 47mm wide (1.85 inches), and it's matched to a comfortable black resin sports strap. Timekeeping features include a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 24-hour capacity and elapsed time mode, dual time for tracking a second time zone, daily alarm, and 12/24-hour formats. Other features include an Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2039), ±15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving.

Note: Though this watch is designed to withstand exposure to magnetic force, you should still keep it away from machinery and appliances that generate a strong magnetic field.

4 out of 5 stars Above average watch.   July 30, 2010
Carl_the_Truth (California)
I've had this watch for over three years and haven't had any problems with it. It's been more or less a set it and forget it type of watch. I usually just set it for day light saving time / standard time.
After three plus years the battery was still showing no signs of failure ! That got me concerned so I thought I would change it myself. Not ! Once I got the back off I see the most complex battery clamp I had ever seen !I paid $5 for the battery, and then another $7 to take it to a watch repair place to have them do it right. Took the guy about 5 minutes to do it.
The band still looks good. The first G shock I bought had to have the band changed once a year. And that watch lasted over 12 years before I had to replace it.
Another thing I wasn't happy about is it's not made in Japan, but assembled in Thailand with Japanese parts...
Over all, I'm happy with it.It's been a problem free watch.

4 out of 5 stars Great Sport Watch   July 21, 2010

I like everything about this watch except I wish it had a second hand. I use it during work and around my boat because it is very hardy.

Just received the Casio G 100-BV today and found at first glance that the digital readout would not work for me. As a senior I still have good vision and use the chrono a lot but found this didn't show up at all like the online display of the watch. Too bad as the watch looked very attractive. Amazon was very understanding. I'm still looking for an analog with a clear if not big digital display.

4 out of 5 stars G Shock G100   July 12, 2010

I have received this watch as a gift from my wife and have been using this for a while. This is a light but rugged watch without a seconds hand.
It has a dual watch function where the digital clock is not clearly visible and the light also does not remain for a long time, i have time indiglo watch along with this watch and i use both of them regularly to my office

2 out of 5 stars Analog/Digital - Nice concept, poorly executed:   May 23, 2010

I've had this watch almost a year, now, and wear it less and less.
I've had Casio G-Shock watches before, and like them a lot - accurate,
sturdy, rugged looking, so I thought the analog and digital combination
would be a good idea.

Like many attempts to be all things to all people, this fails miserably.
I'll tell you why.

Digital: the display is too small, the backlight too dim, and 6 to
8 hours per day either the minute hand or the hour hand (or both)
are obscuring part of the display. For all practical purposes, it
is an analog watch.

Analog: to set the watch, you hold down a button (and you have to
hold it down pretty hard) and the minute hand advances - slowly -
which moves the hour hand. If your watch is 2 minutes fast, and you'd
like to have it accurate, you need to advance the hands through 11
hours and 58 minutes. If you're flying west to another time zone,
you have to advance the hands through 9 (or 10 or 11) hours.

As a side note, I might also mention that it has glow in the dark
hands. Sounds okay, until you notice it doesn't have glow in the dark
numbers (or dots). If you look at it in the dark, you really can't
tell if it's 3:00 AM, or 5 minutes to 2, or 10 minutes after 4. You
can be pretty sure it's night, though.

Bottom line: my suggestion would be, if you want an analog watch,
buy an analog watch which can use a stem to easily set the time/date/etc.
If you want a digital watch, buy a digital watch with a nice bright
display that isn't obscured for significant portions of the day.
